Construction Cost Estimator – Part time

Biogensys is seeking a full-time Construction Cost Estimator in Newark, Essex County. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in project success by delivering accurate financial projections and cost management solutions for construction initiatives.

The Opportunity

As a Construction Cost Estimator at Biogensys in Newark, you'll own the financial analysis side of construction projects from conception through completion. Your estimates become the foundation for project planning, budgeting, and stakeholder expectations, making your precision and analytical skills essential to operations throughout the greater Newark area.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive cost estimates based on project scope, specifications, and design documentation at any phase of project development
• Conduct detailed analysis of labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs for construction assignments
• Prepare economic feasibility studies, cash flow projections, and contingency analyses
• Review project plans and specifications to identify scope and cost drivers
• Compile and present detailed cost reports and recommendations to project stakeholders
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to refine estimates and address cost questions
• Maintain current knowledge of material costs, labor rates, and market conditions affecting project budgets

Qualifications

• Proven experience in construction cost estimation or related construction planning work
• Proficiency with estimating software and spreadsheet applications like Excel
• Solid understanding of construction methods, building practices, and material specifications
• Strong mathematical and analytical abilities with attention to detail
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines independently
