About the Role
As the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor at Barnes & Noble Education, Inc., you will oversee the flow of merchandise and educational materials into and out of one of our campus stores in New Britain, Connecticut. This is a part-time, on-site supervisory position where you will coordinate receiving, stocking, and shipping activities that keep students, faculty, and staff supplied with the books, tools, and merchandise they rely on every semester.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring incoming and outgoing shipments are handled accurately and on schedule.
- Verify deliveries against purchase orders and resolve discrepancies in counts, damages, or documentation.
- Organize stockroom processes so products move efficiently from the dock to the sales floor.
- Guide and support team members, helping maintain a productive and safe work area.
- Partner with store leadership to meet inventory deadlines during high-volume periods such as rush season.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or retail stockroom operations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when tracking inventory.
- Ability to lead and motivate a small team in a busy setting.
- Comfort with the physical demands of the role, including lifting and moving merchandise.
- Availability to work a part-time schedule on campus in New Britain, Hartford County.
