Based in London, the Conflicts Analyst will be responsible for processing conflicts searches using Firm and third-party research databases. This role includes: 1) researching company information from external sources, 2) searching internal proprietary databases, and 3) selecting and analyzing the conflicts results while highlighting critical issues and communicating this information directly with firm partners.

​The position requires acute attention to detail, as well as organizational and researching capabilities. The Conflicts Analyst role will need to understand legal conflicts, related ethical rules, and current developments in professional services risk management. This position is responsible for upholding the standards of quality, consistency, accuracy, thoroughness, and customer service as defined and implemented by the Department.

​This position reports to the Intake/Conflicts Manager and will work closely with firm attorneys, other Conflicts Analysts, the Conflicts/New Matters Manager, as well as other members of the New Business Intake and Conflicts Departments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing intake requests to ensure clarity in regard to the matter for the new or existing client.
  • Conducting research on new intake requests against the firms conflicts database and other resources.
  • Data entry, search and analysis of conflicts data into the Firm’s conflicts and new matter intake systems in accordance with Firm policies and procedures.
  • Conducting research via external sources to establish corporate structures and management profiles.
  • Verifying that all conflicts reports are complete, consistent and accurate and adhere to established standards and procedures for all conflicts of interest searches performed Firm-wide.
  • Following up on conflict issues with Partners, Intake/Conflicts Manager, Office of General Counsel as well as other Firm personnel as necessary.
  • Performing data analysis, identifying possible issues and notifying the requesting attorney or other appropriate party as needed.
  • Evaluating conflicts report and clear potential conflicts according to Firm policies.
  • Identifying and escalating conflicts and unresolved issues to the Intake/Conflicts Manager, requesting attorney or Office of General Counsel.
  • Assisting the department with a wide range of research and other requests as may be assigned.
  • Assisting in the training and development of other Conflicts Analysts and/or Conflicts Clerks.
  • Ensuring the timely and efficient processing of conflict requests and their processing.
  • Ensuring accuracy in searching and reporting tasks.
  • Contributing to process, procedure, and technology improvements to provide optimum customer service and efficiency.
  • Coordinating with other Analysts and other team members to meet deadlines, time-sensitive issues and other challenges. 

Qualifications:

  • Understand legal conflicts and related ethical rules.

  • Excellent customer service skills and proficiencies.
  • Comfortable working with attorneys and other legal staff.

  • Ability to accept direction and constructive feedback.
  • Ability to take ownership and work independently to resolve issues.
  • Discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.

Experience:

  • University degree.
  • 3-4 years of experience as a Conflicts Analyst in a large firm preferable as well as studies in areas directly applicable to the duties described above (e.g. paralegal/legal assistant).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite as well as web-based systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with CMS/Aderant, Dun & Bradstreet, and Hoovers a plus.
