STI is hiring a Communications Specialist to lead digital and creative communications for our Nashville office. This full-time role is based in Nashville, Davidson County, and is ideal for a detail-oriented communicator who combines strong writing with visual design skills.
About the Role
As Communications Specialist, you'll develop and execute communications strategies that engage our audiences across digital, print, and in-person channels. You'll own the creation of compelling narratives, visuals, and messaging that support our mission and reach community stakeholders.
What You'll Do
- Produce original written content including web copy, social media, newsletters, reports, and campaign materials
- Design graphics, infographics, and visual assets using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (portfolio or samples required)
- Ensure all digital communications comply with web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508)
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop cohesive messaging and branding
- Manage communications calendars and coordinate multi-channel campaigns
- Update and maintain website content, ensuring accuracy and accessibility
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
- 2–5 years of communications experience in public health, nonprofit, or government sectors (preferred)
- Demonstrated proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (graphic design portfolio required)
- Strong writing ability with meticulous attention to grammar, tone, and clarity
- Knowledge of or commitment to learning digital accessibility requirements
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
