About the role
We are looking for a driven and inspiring Communications Director with strong experience in (digital) marketing communication and/or data & insights-driven media advice.
As Communications Director, you are the linchpin of the client team. You know exactly what’s happening in your client’s market, you’re up to date with the latest developments in media, data and technology, and you come up with refreshing data-driven insights and ideas to really make a difference. You work as a working manager alongside Communications Consultants and specialists, and you are the business partner who, with your team, ensures ‘flawless execution’ in today’s projects, but who also sets the direction for tomorrow.
You serve as the main contact for the client and coordinate all disciplines into one strong, integrated approach. You bring flexibility and speed, as well as experience and expertise. Of course, you don’t lose sight of OMD’s commercial interests and you know how to motivate your team to translate all of this into real results.
Your responsibilities
- Delivering high-quality and innovative media, communication and marketing solutions and advice
- Leading the client team and ensuring optimal quality, timing and ‘flawless execution’ of deliverables
- Conducting client briefings and presenting media plans and strategies
- Functional management of the team and optimization of external relationships
- Creating a self-directed team that continuously seeks improvement, realization and optimization
- Maintaining, developing and expanding existing services
- Active involvement in new business projects and pitches (media, data analytics, KPI measurement, branded content, research and business consultancy)
- Proactively identifying client needs and requirements
- Leveraging data insights and OMD tools for strong media advice
What we expect from you
- Completed HBO or University degree, preferably in Marketing, Communication or Business Economics
- Minimum 8 years of proven relevant work experience in (Digital) marketing communication and/or media advice
- Experience in functional management within a digital, marketing and/or media agency or on the advertiser side
- Proven experience in creating self-directed teams
- Knowledge of and affinity with the latest developments in digital, data and technology
- Strong knowledge of online, data and marketing campaigns
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex issues into concrete and results-oriented advice
- Ambition, commercial insight and results orientation
- Natural positive energy with which you inspire and motivate others
- Strong listening and questioning skills
- Strong presentation and persuasion skills
- Flexibility, hands-on mentality and openness to feedback
Who are you?
You are a driven, client-focused professional with strong collaboration and creative skills. You are adaptable, take initiative and are always willing to develop yourself further. You celebrate successes together and take responsibility when things don’t go as planned. You are not only a subject matter expert, but also someone who actively contributes to the OMD brand and aligns with our core values: Build Together, Unite to Uplift and Dare to Disrupt.
You are a good listener who asks the right questions, and you bring both the client and your team along in the process and intended result.
