Commercial HVAC Estimator

Gpac is partnering with a well-established mechanical contractor in the Orlando, Orange County area to place a full-time Commercial HVAC Estimator who can own the bid process from first look at drawings to final proposal submission.

About the Role

This Commercial HVAC Estimator position sits at the center of a busy preconstruction department serving a diverse client base across commercial, healthcare, industrial, hospitality, and institutional sectors. The contractor provides end-to-end mechanical services — HVAC systems, refrigeration, chilled water, building controls, sheet metal fabrication, and full lifecycle maintenance — giving estimators genuine variety in the projects they price.

What You'll Do

• Execute detailed quantity takeoffs from architectural, mechanical, and construction documents
• Build comprehensive, line-item cost estimates covering labor, material, equipment, and subcontract scopes
• Solicit, evaluate, and level vendor and subcontractor quotes to produce competitive bids
• Review project specifications to identify scope gaps, alternates, and value-engineering opportunities
• Prepare and present bid packages to owners, general contractors, and construction managers
• Coordinate with project managers and field superintendents during bid-to-award handoffs
• Maintain accurate records of awarded bids, lost bids, and market pricing trends
• Track addenda and revisions through the bid cycle to ensure proposals reflect current scope

What We're Looking For

• Progressive estimating experience in commercial mechanical or HVAC construction — this is not an entry-level role
• Solid working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems: chillers, cooling towers, VAV, rooftop units, hydronic piping, and controls
• Proficiency reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and project specifications
• Hands-on experience with estimating software (Accubid, Bluebeam, FastWRAP, or equivalent)
• Strong quantitative reasoning and attention to detail under tight bid deadlines
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, purchasing, and operations teams
• Familiarity with refrigeration, sheet metal, or chilled water scopes is a plus
