Classroom Assistant

Join The University of Utah's Student Parent Support Center as a Classroom Assistant in South Jordan, supporting early childhood development at our NAEYC-accredited campus child care program.

About the Role

The Student Parent Support Center serves the University community—students, faculty, staff, and patients—by providing high-quality child care and family support resources. We operate three campus-based child care programs serving children from birth to age six, plus drop-in child care services. As a Classroom Assistant in this part-time position, you'll work alongside experienced teachers to create a nurturing, safe learning environment where young children can thrive.

What You'll Do

• Assist classroom teachers with daily activities, lessons, and transitions for children birth to six years old
• Supervise children during play, meals, rest time, and outdoor activities
• Support hygiene and toileting routines, diaper changes, and personal care
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
• Communicate with parents and teachers about children's activities and developmental progress
• Support children's social, emotional, and physical development
• Assist with classroom setup, materials preparation, and activity organization

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience working with young children in a classroom, home, or care setting
• Ability to pass a background check
• Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Patience, flexibility, and genuine interest in early childhood development
• Reliable transportation to South Jordan
