About the Role
The Kingsville Police Department operates as a civil service agency with approximately 50 officers committed to maintaining public order and safety. As an Alternate Hire Police Officer, you'll be part of this established team, performing essential law enforcement duties while meeting the professional standards set by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
What You'll Do
- Patrol assigned areas on foot and by vehicle to prevent and respond to criminal activity
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service from community members
- Conduct investigations and gather evidence at crime scenes
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records
- Apprehend suspects and make arrests when necessary
- Interact professionally with the public and serve as a community resource
- Enforce local, state, and federal laws
- Testify in court proceedings as required
- Participate in training programs to maintain professional certifications
What We're Looking For
- Meet all minimum qualifications established by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement
- Possess a valid driver's license in good standing
- Pass a comprehensive background investigation and medical examination
- Demonstrate sound judgment, integrity, and ethical conduct
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform duties requiring strength and stamina
