About the Role
Sperry Rail operates across the United States to keep railroad networks safe and operational. Our CDL Drivers are essential to this mission—transporting specialized inspection equipment, personnel, and materials to rail sites throughout our service territory. This position demands professionalism, reliability, and a genuine commitment to safety. You'll be on the road regularly, working in a field-based capacity that requires flexibility and strong time management.
What You'll Do
- Operate commercial vehicles to transport personnel, inspection equipment, and materials to assigned rail locations
- Complete pre-trip vehicle inspections, document maintenance issues, and report mechanical problems promptly
- Maintain accurate driver logs and trip documentation in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations
- Navigate varied terrain and weather conditions while adhering to all traffic and safety laws
- Coordinate with field teams to ensure timely arrival and professional site support
- Support rail flaw detection operations by reliably moving equipment and staff across service areas
What We're Looking For
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with no disqualifying violations
- Clean driving record and willingness to undergo background screening
- Demonstrated ability to follow safety protocols and DOT regulations
- Comfort with frequent travel and extended time away from base
- Strong vehicle maintenance knowledge and professional communication skills
- Self-directed work style with excellent reliability and attendance
