Camp Nurse (RN) (Residential)

Chewonki Foundation Inc is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as our Residential Camp Nurse at our Wiscasset, Maine campus. In this essential healthcare leadership role, you'll provide comprehensive medical care and support to campers and staff while fostering a healthy, safe environment for transformative outdoor learning experiences.

About the Role

As Residential Camp Nurse at Chewonki Foundation Inc, you'll be the primary healthcare provider on our residential campus throughout the summer season. This full-time position combines clinical nursing expertise with the unique demands of camp life, where you'll manage health operations, respond to medical needs, and collaborate with educators and program staff to keep campers healthy and engaged in our outdoor education programs.

What You'll Do

• Provide direct nursing care and medical assessment for campers and staff
• Manage the camp health office, including medication administration, health records, and supplies
• Assess and respond to injuries, illnesses, and health emergencies with sound clinical judgment
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare providers on camper care plans
• Communicate proactively with families regarding camper health and wellness
• Create and implement health protocols that support the camp's educational mission
• Maintain health documentation and ensure regulatory compliance
• Model wellness and safety practices that contribute to a positive camp culture

What We're Looking For

• Current RN license (Registered Nurse) in Maine or ability to obtain one
• Strong clinical foundation and independent decision-making skills
• Ability to thrive in a residential, community-based setting
• Experience working with children and adolescents preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Adaptability and resourcefulness in a camp environment
• Genuine passion for youth development and outdoor education
