About the Role

As a Building Maintenance Service Technician with So Others Might Eat in Washington, D.C., you will support the day-to-day physical operations of the spaces where our programs and services take place. Your work directly enables the mission: well-maintained buildings allow SOME to deliver life-saving and life-changing support to individuals and families across the District. This is a full-time, in-person position based in Washington, D.C.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance across SOME facilities to ensure safe, comfortable conditions.
• Diagnose and complete general repairs involving plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and related building systems.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and report larger issues that may require outside contractors.
• Conduct regular inspections of buildings, equipment, and grounds to identify and address concerns early.
• Maintain accurate records of completed work, supplies, and ongoing maintenance needs.
• Follow all safety standards and procedures while supporting a clean, secure environment for staff and clients.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in building or facilities maintenance and general repair work.
• Working knowledge of common trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, standing, and working in various conditions.
• Strong attention to detail, dependability, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
