Mid-South Transportation Management is hiring a full-time Building and Grounds Technician in Memphis, Shelby County to keep MATA's facilities, grounds, and transit infrastructure safe, clean, and fully operational.
About the Role
As a Building and Grounds Technician, you will join our Facilities and Maintenance team and report directly to the Superintendent of Facility Maintenance. This hands-on, non-exempt position carries a pay rate of $22.71 per hour and centers on the day-to-day care of every MATA building, ground area, and bus stop. Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance, servicing, and general upkeep across MATA buildings, grounds, and bus stops.
- Diagnose and complete repairs to facilities and related infrastructure as needs arise.
- Help keep all properties clean, orderly, safe, and presentable for staff and the riding public.
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely, reliable manner and follow established safety practices.
- Coordinate with the Superintendent of Facility Maintenance to prioritize and schedule work.
Qualifications
- Practical experience with building maintenance, grounds care, or general facilities repair.
- Working familiarity with common hand tools, power tools, and standard maintenance procedures.
- Ability to perform physical, hands-on labor and work on-site in Memphis, Shelby County.
- Dependability, attention to detail, and a commitment to safe work habits.
- Capacity to work independently while supporting a team-oriented maintenance department.
