ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education is hiring a full-time Behavior Specialist to join our team in Montpelier, Washington County. In this position, you will provide direct behavioral support to students enrolled in our Education, Training & E-Learning programs, using evidence-based strategies to create meaningful, lasting change.

About the Role

This Behavior Specialist role is designed for someone passionate about helping young people succeed academically and socially. You'll work at the intersection of education and mental health, translating behavioral science into practical interventions that make a real difference in students' lives. Your work will involve building strong partnerships with educators, therapeutic staff, and families to create a coordinated approach to each student's growth.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct comprehensive functional behavior assessments to understand the underlying causes of student behavior
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based behavior intervention plans tailored to each student's needs
  • Observe and document student behavior patterns, collecting data to track progress and inform plan adjustments
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and educational staff to ensure consistent application of behavioral strategies across settings
  • Support classroom management and positive reinforcement systems that encourage academic engagement
  • Communicate regularly with families about their student's progress, challenges, and behavioral goals
  • Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and refine approaches based on ongoing assessment
  • Contribute to a school environment that prioritizes student dignity, inclusion, and positive outcomes

What We're Looking For

  • A degree in behavioral science, psychology, education, special education, or a related field
  • Experience conducting functional behavior assessments or designing behavior intervention plans
  • Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral strategies and positive behavior support frameworks
  • Strong ability to communicate with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Detail-oriented approach to data collection and documentation
