POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a knowledgeable, polished, detail-oriented, and hospitality-driven Bartender to join the Moss New York team with Compass Group. Bartenders play a vital role in shaping the guest experience through expertly crafted cocktails, thoughtful beverage recommendations, and elevated bar service. This role is essential to maintaining a refined and seamless environment, ensuring that every drink is executed with precision, every guest interaction feels warm and personalized, and the bar operates with consistency and efficiency. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about mixology and service, thrives in a fast-paced fine dining setting, and takes pride in delivering confident, welcoming, and memorable guest experiences.

COMPENSATION:

The hourly wage for this position is $15.00 per hour with tips
Training wage during the orientation period is $17.00 per hour.

CLASSIFICATION:

This is a non-exempt, hourly position. In accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), you are eligible for overtime pay at one and a half times your regular rate for all hours worked over 40 in a single workweek.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate all bar service for each shift; ensure that the bar area is properly stocked to accommodate the dining service aspect that may be requested at any time i.e. plates, silverware, napkins etc.
  • Accountable for an organized and clean working environment in accordance with ALL health department standards
  • Possess thorough and detailed knowledge of all menus; menu knowledge should equal that of a Server position.
  • Adhere to the hours of work/shift system. To be punctual, to arrive in the restaurant at the appropriate time.
  • Ensure that the uniforms provided are kept clean, in good condition and are presentable, ensuring that the personal appearance and hygiene standards are an example for the team and demonstrate a professional image for our guests.
  • Perform duties in the bar in compliance with statutory health & safety and hygiene requirements as well as licensing laws
  • Perform all duties relating to the opening and closing of the bar, allowing efficient and proactive service.
  • Ensure that housekeeping and cleaning practices are carried out to ensure a safe, clean and pleasant environment.
  • To follow bar stock levels of glassware, utensils, alcohol and linen.
  • Ensure that the highest standards of cleanliness are achieved, and that furnishings and equipment are maintained, providing a safe, clean and pleasant environment.
  • Ensure that bar maintenance is reported and carried out
  • To meet, greet and interact with guests in a professional and efficient manner ensuring full guest satisfaction.
  • Prepare bar mise-en-place and to serve dishes according to guest expectations and company standards.
  • Prepare and serve all beverages for guests in a timely fashion and according to company standards, bar recipes and licensing laws.
  • Assist in the creative aspect of the development of the bar i.e innovation of cocktails.
  • Promote the bar to establish loyal, regular clientele whilst creating a guest data base showing individual preferences
  • Perform all cashier related duties according to company policies whilst ensuring that guests receive bills in a prompt and accurate manner.
  • Ensure daily cleaning of the bar area is carried out to the standard required.
  • Carry out reasonable requests by your manager.
  • Complete monthly stock control, to ensure that stock control levels are always adhered to.
  • Operate the following equipment: cocktail shakers, coffee machine, glassware, chinaware, blender, bottle opener, spirit measure, point of sales system and telephone.
  • Build rapport and relationships with members and guests.
  • Ensure that all cleaning and polishing of silverware is carried out at least once a week.
  • Ensure accidents are reported in accordance with procedure.
  • To always smile and be attentive and professional.
  • Achieve guest satisfaction through high quality service and to promote good relations with fellow team members.
  • Immediately inform the Manager on duty of any guest complaints or comments.
  • Comply with and fully understand the laws and regulations regarding licensing, food safety, health and safety, fire equipment and fire training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 2+ years serving experience in a high-volume, service-driven restaurant environment; upscale or chef-driven concepts preferred.
  • Flexible availability for AM and PM shifts, including weekends.
  • Strong teamwork, professionalism, and a hospitality-first mindset with excellent communication skills.
  • Genuine interest in seasonal, ingredient-driven cuisine with a willingness to expand culinary and beverage knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of classic cocktails, foundational wine varietals, and beer styles; fine-dining or craft beverage experience a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and composure.
