Gelest Inc. is seeking an Associate Scientist to join our research and development team in Morrisville, Wake County, North Carolina. As part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group, we're advancing specialty materials and innovative chemical solutions that serve industries worldwide.
About the Role
This is an early-career position where you'll contribute directly to product development and technical research. You'll work alongside experienced scientists and engineers in a collaborative laboratory environment, applying your chemistry knowledge to solve real-world technical challenges in specialty materials.
What You'll Do
- Conduct experimental research and development activities in support of specialty material projects
- Prepare and characterize compounds, analyzing results using standard laboratory techniques and instrumentation
- Document experiments, maintain detailed records, and contribute to technical reports and presentations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot technical issues and optimize processes
- Support quality assurance and regulatory compliance activities as needed
- Contribute ideas to improve research methodologies and laboratory efficiency
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Strong foundation in chemistry principles and laboratory practices
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation
- Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn new techniques and technologies
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
