Ben Hall Law is hiring an Associate Criminal Defense Attorney for our East Lansing office in Ingham County, Michigan. As a full-time defense attorney, you'll represent clients through every stage of criminal proceedings, from consultation to trial.
About the Role
You'll practice criminal defense across a wide range of cases in state and local courts. This position offers the opportunity to build a strong defense practice while serving clients throughout Ingham County and the surrounding region.
What You'll Do
- Represent clients facing felony, misdemeanor, and traffic charges
- Meet with clients to understand their case and legal options
- Develop defense strategies and prepare legal motions
- Negotiate with prosecutors and work toward favorable outcomes
- Conduct discovery, manage evidence, and prepare cases for trial
- Try cases before judges and juries
- Maintain case files, documentation, and client communications
- Build professional relationships within the local legal community
What We're Looking For
- Active Michigan law license
- Experience in criminal defense, trial practice, or related litigation
- Strong legal writing and research skills
- Demonstrated courtroom advocacy and trial experience
- Excellent client communication and relationship-building abilities
- Ability to manage multiple cases and work independently
- Commitment to zealous client representation and ethical practice

Compensation and Employment Details
This full-time position offers a salary range of $85,000 to $115,000, based on your experience and qualifications.
