GEICO is hiring an Associate Counsel for our Concord, Contra Costa County office to join our legal team on a remote, full-time basis. This is an opportunity to provide legal counsel and support across our insurance operations while building your career at one of America's largest insurers.
About the Role
As an Associate Counsel at GEICO, you'll deliver legal guidance to business units, manage aspects of our litigation practice, and help ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Working closely with senior attorneys and cross-functional teams, you'll contribute directly to protecting our company and serving our customers with integrity.
What You'll Do
- Provide legal analysis and counsel on insurance-related matters, contracts, and business transactions
- Support litigation management, including document review, case analysis, and attorney coordination
- Draft and review legal documents, policies, and correspondence
- Research applicable statutes, regulations, and case law to guide legal positions
- Work with product, claims, underwriting, and operations teams on legal and compliance matters
- Assist with regulatory compliance across our insurance business
- Contribute to legal strategy and risk mitigation initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in California or ability to obtain California bar admission
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of insurance law, litigation, or related practice areas is a plus
- Commitment to professional ethics and integrity
