Emburse is hiring a full-time Associate Commercial Counsel to join its in-house legal team in Boston, Suffolk County — supporting a high-growth AI-powered platform that is transforming how enterprises manage travel and expense.

About the Role

As Associate Commercial Counsel at Emburse, you will serve as a trusted legal partner to sales, finance, and procurement stakeholders, owning the contract lifecycle for a wide range of technology agreements. This is a hands-on position for a commercially minded attorney who thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving SaaS environment and knows how to balance legal risk with business pragmatism.

What You'll Do

  • Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS agreements, master service agreements, NDAs, and vendor contracts across the enterprise
  • Act as a primary legal resource for the sales organization, advising on deal structure and contract terms to accelerate revenue close
  • Build and continuously refine contract templates, standard playbooks, and approved fallback positions
  • Partner with finance and procurement on supplier and partner agreements, ensuring alignment with company risk tolerance and internal policy
  • Support data privacy and security reviews embedded in commercial transactions, including DPAs and cross-border data transfer mechanisms
  • Surface legal and business risks in proposed agreements and deliver clear, practical guidance to non-legal colleagues
  • Coordinate with outside counsel on specialized or escalated matters as needed

What We're Looking For

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active admission to at least one US state bar
  • 2–4 years of experience in commercial or technology transactions, in-house or at a law firm
  • Proven ability to draft and negotiate SaaS, software licensing, or other technology agreements end to end
  • Working knowledge of data privacy frameworks — including GDPR and CCPA — as they apply to commercial contracting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for translating legal complexity into business-friendly language
  • A solutions-first mindset and the ability to manage competing priorities without missing deadlines
