Storm Lake Community School District is seeking a dedicated Assistant Varsity Softball Coach for this full-time position. If you're passionate about developing young athletes and supporting a competitive high school softball program, we'd like to hear from you.
About the Role
As an Assistant Varsity Softball Coach with Storm Lake Community School District, you'll work alongside our head coach to guide student-athletes through skill development, competitive play, and personal growth. This is an opportunity to shape the athletic and personal futures of high school students in a supportive, dynamic environment.
What You'll Do
- Lead and participate in daily practice sessions, emphasizing fundamental skills and strategic understanding of the game
- Provide coaching and feedback during games and competitions
- Develop individualized and team-based training programs
- Mentor student-athletes in athletic performance, character development, and sportsmanship
- Manage team equipment, facilities, and records
- Support recruitment efforts and athlete selection processes
- Maintain open communication with the head coach, athletes, families, and school administration
- Attend athletic events, competitions, and related functions as required
What We're Looking For
- Solid background in softball, including playing or coaching experience at a competitive level
- Strong understanding of softball techniques, strategy, and rules
- Ability to teach, inspire, and mentor young athletes
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative approach to coaching
- Commitment to building an inclusive, positive team culture
- Ability to work effectively with coaching staff, school personnel, and families
- Valid driver's license and compliance with district background check requirements
