Assistant Manager, Non Exempt

Playa Bowls, a rapidly growing fast-casual acai and super fruit bowl concept, seeks an experienced Assistant Manager to lead operations at our Allston location in Suffolk County. This is a full-time, non-exempt position for a hands-on leader ready to drive excellence in service and team performance.

About This Position

As Assistant Manager at Playa Bowls, you'll play a key role in executing our brand promise: delivering fresh, high-quality super fruit bowls in a vibrant in-store environment. You'll support the Store Manager in all aspects of daily operations while leading team members and ensuring every customer receives the hospitality Playa Bowls is known for. This is a floor-present role where you're working alongside your team, not just managing from above.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Oversee shifts, coordinate scheduling, and ensure adequate staffing for smooth service
• Train, mentor, and motivate team members to deliver consistent quality and customer service
• Manage food preparation standards, ensuring products meet our quality and freshness guidelines
• Monitor inventory, order supplies, and reduce waste to protect margins
• Handle cash handling, reconcile registers, and manage point-of-sale systems
• Address customer concerns and resolve issues to maintain satisfaction and loyalty
• Maintain health, safety, and cleanliness standards according to local regulations
• Support marketing initiatives and execute promotional programs at the local level

Qualifications

• 2+ years of fast-casual or quick-service restaurant management experience
• Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate diverse teams
• Strong operational skills: scheduling, inventory management, and P&L awareness
• Customer service excellence and conflict resolution ability
• Food safety certification or willingness to obtain
• Reliable transportation and availability for flexibility during peak times
• Passion for Playa Bowls' mission and commitment to quality ingredients
