This full-time, on-campus role supports the development of a competitive collegiate acrobatics and tumbling team within a values-driven university community.

About the Role

As the Assistant Coach for Women's Acrobatics and Tumbling at Augustana University, you will work closely with the head coach to build a thriving program in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County. The position blends technical coaching, athlete mentorship, and program operations, all in service of student-athlete success both in competition and in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and leading practices, conditioning, and skill development for the women's acrobatics and tumbling team.
• Coach athletes on tumbling, stunting, and partner skills with a focus on technique, progression, and safety.
• Support recruiting efforts to identify and attract prospective student-athletes who fit the program and the university.
• Contribute to game-day and competition preparation, including routine planning and event logistics.
• Mentor student-athletes in their academic, athletic, and personal growth, reinforcing the university's core values.
• Help with administrative tasks such as scheduling, travel coordination, and equipment management.
• Promote compliance with conference and NCAA rules and university policies.

Qualifications

• Background in acrobatics and tumbling, competitive cheer, gymnastics, or a closely related discipline.
• Coaching or competitive experience with stunting, tumbling, and team-based skill routines.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills for working with athletes and staff.
• Commitment to safety, athlete well-being, and a student-centric coaching philosophy.
• Willingness to support recruiting and travel as required by the season schedule.
