Join the City of Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation Department as a full-time Aquatics Fitness Instructor (on-call) in Lake Oswego. This position offers the chance to teach dynamic water-based fitness classes to community members across all abilities in a dedicated aquatics facility.
About the Role
City of Lake Oswego is looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable aquatics professional to lead group fitness classes in our indoor aquatics center. You'll teach participants in both the competitive lap pool and recreation pool, designing and leading workouts that challenge experienced fitness enthusiasts while remaining accessible to beginners. This full-time, on-call position requires someone who brings genuine energy and expertise to every session while maintaining the safety standards our community expects.
What You'll Do
- Develop and instruct group aquatic fitness classes for varying skill levels and fitness goals
- Create safe, effective water exercise routines that engage and motivate participants
- Adapt class intensity and techniques based on individual participant needs and feedback
- Maintain a clean and compliant pool environment, following all safety and health protocols
- Monitor participant form and progression while fostering a welcoming class community
- Coordinate scheduling and communicate with Parks & Recreation staff
What We're Looking For
- Active certification in aquatics instruction or group water fitness (AEA, CPTA, or equivalent recognized credential)
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Strong knowledge of exercise science, water fitness techniques, and class progression
- Excellent communication and motivational skills with diverse age groups
- Reliable, professional approach to on-call scheduling
