About the Role
As the Applied Science Operations Lead on the Fauna team, you will act as a trusted strategic partner to the Director of Applied Science, operating where science strategy meets operational rigor. This is a high-agency, on-site role in New York City: rather than simply coordinating tasks, you will help define how the Applied Science organization shapes its research portfolio, directs resources, and executes against its most demanding objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic right hand to the Director of Applied Science, translating vision into structured, executable plans.
- Help architect and maintain the organization's research portfolio across multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Guide the allocation of people, time, and resources to the initiatives that matter most.
- Drive operational excellence so the team consistently delivers on its most ambitious scientific goals.
- Bring clarity and structure to complex, fast-moving programs while keeping stakeholders aligned.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating at the intersection of science or technical strategy and program operations.
- A high degree of autonomy and ownership, with the judgment to set priorities in ambiguous environments.
- Strong skills in resource planning, portfolio management, and cross-functional coordination.
- The ability to partner credibly with senior scientific leadership and influence without direct authority.
- Comfort working on-site, full-time, in Amazon's New York City office.
