The City of Enid is hiring an Animal Control Manager to lead its animal control operations in North Enid, Garfield County. This is a full-time leadership position reporting to the Police Department, where you'll oversee animal control officers and ensure humane, effective animal services for our community.
About the Role
As the Animal Control Manager at City of Enid, you will direct all aspects of animal control operations, from personnel management to animal welfare initiatives. Working alongside the Police Department, you'll ensure Garfield County residents have responsive, safe animal control services while maintaining compliance with local and state regulations.
What You'll Do
- Supervise, manage, and direct a team of Animal Control Officers in their daily operations and field assignments
- Lead recruitment, selection, training, and development of animal control personnel
- Evaluate employee performance, provide coaching, and manage staff appraisals
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols for animal control operations
- Coordinate with law enforcement and community partners on animal-related incidents
- Ensure animals and the public remain safe through proactive management and oversight
- Maintain records, budgets, and compliance documentation for the animal control division
What We're Looking For
- At least 21 years of age
- No felony convictions; subject to background investigation
- Proven leadership and personnel management experience
- Knowledge of animal care, behavior, and welfare standards
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work in a regulated municipal environment
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
