About the Role
As an Agriculture & Animal Science Instructor, you will deliver comprehensive classroom and hands-on instruction in agriculture and animal science disciplines. Your work will directly shape student competency in production agriculture, animal management, and industry-standard practices. You'll develop and refine curriculum that keeps pace with evolving agricultural technology and market demands, ensuring our graduates are job-ready for North Carolina's agricultural sector.
What You'll Do
- Teach assigned agriculture and animal science courses using active learning and problem-based methods
- Design and deliver practical laboratory and field instruction aligned with industry standards
- Maintain partnerships with regional farms, agribusinesses, and livestock operations to keep curriculum relevant and responsive to employer needs
- Assess student learning, maintain grades, and provide academic advising to support student success
- Develop course materials, syllabi, and learning assessments that reflect current agricultural practices
- Participate in professional development and stay current with innovations in agriculture and animal science
- Collaborate with colleagues across the College to support student retention and completion
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Agriculture, Animal Science, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated expertise and practical experience in agriculture or animal science operations
- Strong communication skills and ability to teach diverse learners effectively
- Knowledge of animal husbandry, crop production, agricultural equipment, and farm management
- Ability to establish and maintain industry partnerships and advisory relationships
- Commitment to community college teaching excellence and student-centered education
