About the Role
The Augusta satellite of Georgia Military College seeks experienced educators to lead Sociology courses for our student population. As an adjunct faculty member, you'll deliver engaging instruction, foster critical thinking about social structures and human behavior, and contribute to our mission of academic excellence. This renewable contract position runs for eight-week terms, with opportunities to continue based on course availability and teaching performance.
What You'll Do
- Teach Sociology courses at scheduled times, with preference for instructors able to support both daytime and evening sections
- Develop and deliver course content aligned with college curriculum standards
- Evaluate student work through assignments, exams, and other assessments
- Maintain professional communication with students through office hours and email
- Collaborate with the academic department on course planning and student success
- Contribute to a supportive learning environment that values diverse perspectives
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Sociology or a closely related social science discipline (Master's degree preferred)
- Demonstrated experience teaching Sociology or related coursework at the college level
- Strong command of sociological theory, research methods, and contemporary applications
- Ability to engage learners with varied backgrounds and learning styles
- Flexibility to teach across day and evening time slots
