Join our Civil Engineering Department as a part-time Temporary Faculty Lecturer for the 2026-2027 academic year in Fresno, California. We're building a teaching team to guide undergraduate engineering students through practical coursework and hands-on laboratory instruction.
About the Role
This temporary faculty position supports undergraduate civil engineering instruction across lecture and laboratory courses. As a part-time Lecturer, you'll prepare course materials, deliver instruction, mentor students, and facilitate laboratory learning experiences in our Civil Engineering program.
Courses and Teaching Areas
- Engineering Communication and Essentials – foundational concepts for civil engineering students
- Mechanics of Materials Laboratory – experimental investigation of structural behavior and material properties
- Soil Engineering – geotechnical principles, site investigation, and soil analysis
- Soil Engineering Laboratory – hands-on exploration of soil testing and characterization
- Concrete Laboratory – material testing, mix design, durability, and construction practices
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field; advanced degree advantageous
- Professional or academic experience in civil engineering teaching or practice
- Expertise in one or more topic areas: structural mechanics, materials science, geotechnical engineering, or concrete technology
- Ability to design and lead laboratory experiences that connect theory to application
- Strong communication and instructional skills
- Commitment to student success and inclusive teaching practices
