Oklahoma City Public Schools is hiring a full-time AVID Teacher at NW Classen High School for the 2026-2027 school year, an on-site secondary teaching role for an educator passionate about preparing students for college success.
About the Role
As the 2026-2027 AVID Teacher with Oklahoma City Public Schools in Oklahoma City, you will build an adaptable instructional program and a welcoming classroom climate that nurtures both academic achievement and individual development. Reporting to the building administrator, this is an exempt, full-time position based at NW Classen High School, with compensation set according to your experience and a 181-day work calendar at a 1.0 FTE.
Key Responsibilities
- Design a responsive AVID program and shape a classroom setting that encourages learning and personal growth.
- Cultivate genuine, supportive relationships with students to foster trust and engagement.
- Inspire and motivate pupils toward stronger study habits, organization, and college readiness.
- Deliver instruction aligned with AVID methodology to help students develop critical-thinking and academic skills.
- Collaborate with the building administrator and school staff to support student success.
Qualifications
- Appropriate Oklahoma teaching certification for a secondary classroom assignment.
- Familiarity with AVID strategies or a strong willingness to be trained in the AVID framework.
- Ability to establish effective rapport with secondary students and motivate diverse learners.
- Commitment to creating a flexible, inclusive environment that promotes academic and personal growth.
