About the Role

As a Survivability Strategist with GM Defense, you will help translate proven commercial vehicle technology into military-grade, mission-ready solutions. GM Defense designs integrated vehicles, power and propulsion systems, and autonomy and connectivity capabilities for defense, security, and government customers around the globe. This position is based on-site in Pierre, Hughes County, and centers on advancing survivability thinking across these adapted platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and champion survivability strategies for defense vehicle programs and propulsion solutions.
• Apply General Motors engineering expertise to convert commercial platforms into resilient, mission-ready systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, autonomy, and connectivity teams to embed protection principles early in design.
• Support global defense, security, and government customers with credible, requirements-driven survivability approaches.
• Help accelerate the adaptation of trusted technologies into rapidly deployable military capabilities.

Qualifications

• Background in survivability, defense engineering, systems strategy, or a closely related technical discipline.
• Familiarity with vehicle platforms, power and propulsion, or autonomy and connectivity concepts.
• Ability to bridge commercial engineering practices with defense and government mission needs.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with comfort working across multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to work on-site full-time in Pierre, Hughes County.
