About the Role

As Principal Optical System Architect at TE Connectivity, you will sit at the technical heart of a business unit driving the explosive evolution of data communications. You will define optical system architectures, guide design direction, and translate emerging network demands into robust, manufacturable solutions. This is a senior, hands-on leadership position based in Sacramento.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect end-to-end optical systems for next-generation data networking applications.
• Set the technical vision and design strategy for optical interconnect platforms.
• Collaborate across engineering, product, and manufacturing teams to bring concepts to production.
• Evaluate emerging optical technologies and assess their fit for evolving customer needs.
• Provide expert technical leadership and mentorship to fellow engineers.
• Anticipate the rapidly shifting requirements of modern data communications and design ahead of the curve.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in optical system design and architecture, ideally for data communications or networking applications.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex technical programs from concept through delivery.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to influence engineering direction.
• A track record of solving sophisticated optical and systems-level challenges.
• Willingness to work on-site in Sacramento, Sacramento County (this role is not remote).
