What This Role Involves
As a CNA/CMA at Whsi, you will deliver essential daily care and clinical support under licensed nursing supervision. The work centers on helping individuals with personal care, monitoring their status, and maintaining a clean, respectful environment so residents can live with dignity. You will collaborate closely with nurses and other staff to keep care plans on track and respond promptly when needs change.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility while encouraging independence whenever possible
- Measure and record vital signs, observe changes in condition, and report concerns to the nursing team without delay
- Support mealtime activities, including feeding assistance and monitoring intake as directed
- Help maintain a tidy living space, change linens, and follow infection-control practices
- Document care provided accurately and participate in shift hand-offs so the next team member has current information
- Respond to call lights and resident requests in a calm, respectful manner
- Carry out other duties standard to the CNA or CMA scope that support the overall care plan
Who We're Looking For
- Current CNA or CMA certification recognized in Iowa
- Ability to lift, transfer, and assist residents safely using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Clear communication skills for interacting with residents, families, and coworkers
- Reliability, compassion, and a professional demeanor in a resident-care setting
- Willingness to follow care plans, policies, and confidentiality standards
- Prior experience in long-term care, assisted living, or similar settings is helpful but not required if you hold active credentials
