Principal Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Principal Engineer to lead the Pune engineering team for Litmus Edge Manager (LEM)—our centralized platform for managing edge deployments across global manufacturing sites.

You will provide technical leadership while actively contributing to product development, architecture, and engineering excellence. This role combines software engineering, team leadership, product collaboration, and quality ownership to build a high-performing engineering organization.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and mentor the Pune engineering and QA teams.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Go.

• Drive architecture decisions, code quality, security, and engineering best practices.

• Collaborate with global engineering and product teams to deliver product roadmap initiatives.

• Translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Own engineering quality, testing strategy, and CI/CD standards.

• Build and grow the engineering team through hiring, coaching, and technical mentorship.

• Champion modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted software development.

Must Have

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in a technical leadership role.

• Strong expertise in Java (Spring Boot) and good working knowledge of Go.

• Experience building distributed systems and microservices.

• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Strong understanding of REST APIs, messaging systems, databases, and system design.

• Experience leading engineering teams and mentoring developers.

• Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and security best practices.

• Excellent communication skills and experience working with globally distributed teams.

• Experience using AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Industrial IoT, edge computing, or manufacturing software.

• Knowledge of MQTT, OPC-UA, Modbus, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.

• Experience with AI/ML deployment at the edge.

• Familiarity with Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and observability platforms.

• Experience building Global Capability Centers or leading distributed engineering teams.
