Sr. Security Software Engineer (Starlink)

Role Overview

SpaceX seeks an experienced Senior Security Software Engineer to strengthen the security posture of Starlink's network infrastructure, ground systems, and user-facing services. In this role, you'll design and build security solutions that protect critical satellite internet technologies while maintaining the performance and reliability that millions of users depend on. Your work will directly impact the security architecture of one of the most ambitious aerospace and technology projects in the world.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure software architecture for Starlink network components and satellite systems
• Conduct threat modeling and security assessments across distributed ground and space infrastructure
• Lead code reviews focused on security, cryptographic implementation, and vulnerability prevention
• Develop authentication, authorization, and encryption systems for satellite communications
• Identify, prioritize, and remediate security vulnerabilities in production systems
• Collaborate with teams across firmware, networking, and systems engineering to integrate security controls
• Contribute to security incident response and post-incident analysis

Who We're Looking For

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with significant depth in security engineering
• Expert proficiency in systems languages such as C++, Python, Go, or Rust
• Strong foundation in cryptography, secure protocol design, and network security
• Demonstrated experience securing distributed systems or infrastructure at scale
• Ability to threat model complex systems and recommend practical security mitigations
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with hardware and network teams
• Security clearance or ability to obtain one is a plus
