Senior FPGA Designer with Security Clearance

Lockheed Martin seeks a Senior FPGA Designer with Security Clearance for our Owego, Tioga County facility. This full-time position offers the opportunity to design and develop cutting-edge digital solutions for advanced mission systems in defense and aerospace.

Position Summary

As a Senior FPGA Designer, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) solutions for critical defense and aerospace applications. Working at Lockheed Martin's Owego location, you'll tackle complex technical challenges that drive innovation across our mission systems. This role requires an active security clearance and deep expertise in FPGA architecture and digital design methodologies.

Your Responsibilities

• Design, code, simulate, and verify FPGA implementations using industry-standard hardware description languages and development tools
• Develop and optimize digital signal processing algorithms and real-time embedded systems for defense and aerospace platforms
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate FPGA designs into larger system architectures
• Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and validation of FPGA designs to ensure compliance with system requirements and specifications
• Document technical designs, test results, and implementation details for regulatory and quality assurance purposes
• Contribute to architecture discussions and technology evaluations for next-generation mission systems
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in design reviews to maintain engineering excellence

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
• Substantial professional FPGA design experience in real-time, safety-critical, or high-reliability environments
• Expert proficiency with VHDL and/or Verilog hardware description languages
• Strong knowledge of FPGA design tools, simulation environments, and board-level debugging techniques
• Demonstrated experience with digital signal processing (DSP) and high-speed interface design
• Active security clearance
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in complex system design
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-team collaboration
