Senior Manager, Communications

Campaign Legal Center Inc is hiring a Senior Manager, Communications for its Washington, D.C. office. This full-time position leads strategic communications initiatives for a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to advancing democracy through law and legal advocacy.

About the Role

As Senior Manager, Communications, you will drive the strategic direction of communications across Campaign Legal Center's work in voting rights, redistricting, campaign finance reform, and ethics in government. You'll develop and execute communications strategies that amplify the organization's litigation, policy research, and advocacy impact to key audiences, media, and the public. This leadership role shapes how CLC's democracy advocacy reaches and influences decision-makers, legal professionals, policymakers, and engaged citizens.

What You'll Do

• Lead communications strategy development and implementation across multiple practice areas and campaigns
• Oversee media relations, messaging, and press outreach for major litigation and policy initiatives
• Direct the creation and distribution of communications materials—including press releases, op-eds, reports, and digital content
• Coordinate with litigation, policy, and advocacy teams to translate complex legal and policy work into compelling public narratives
• Manage the communications team and collaborate across organizational departments
• Monitor and respond to the media landscape and communications opportunities in real time
• Build and maintain relationships with journalists, media outlets, and communications partners

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in communications management, ideally in nonprofit, legal, policy, or advocacy organizations
• Strong writing skills and ability to communicate complex issues clearly and compellingly
• Strategic thinking and demonstrated ability to develop and execute communications plans
• Experience managing media relations and working with journalists
• Familiarity with democracy issues, legal reform, or public interest advocacy is a plus
• Leadership experience and comfort working in a collaborative team environment
• Strong project management and organizational skills
