Join Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools as an Elementary Teacher Assistant at Morris Grove Elementary School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to directly support student learning and classroom instruction while working alongside experienced educators.
About the Role
As an Elementary Teacher Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting classroom teachers and enhancing the academic and social development of elementary students. Working under the direction of the principal and classroom teacher, you'll help create a productive, inclusive learning environment where students can succeed. This position is available starting August 17, 2026.
What You'll Do
- Assist teachers with instructional activities and student academic support
- Provide one-on-one and small-group assistance to students requiring additional learning support
- Help monitor student progress and provide feedback to classroom teachers
- Support classroom management and help maintain a safe, positive learning environment
- Assist students with transitions, daily routines, and classroom procedures
- Prepare instructional materials and organize classroom resources
- Support students with diverse learning needs in collaboration with teachers
- Build positive relationships with students and families
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with or genuine passion for supporting elementary-age children
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive classroom community
- Reliability, flexibility, and collaborative teamwork abilities
- Patience and a positive approach to student learning and development
- Willingness to follow classroom and school policies and teacher direction
