Standex Engraving is hiring a Tooling Technician to join our Maumee, Lucas County facility on a full-time basis. Working the first shift Monday through Friday, you'll contribute directly to the build, refinement, maintenance, and repair of thermoforming tooling systems that power automotive soft-trim manufacturing.
About the Role
We're looking for someone who takes pride in precision work and understands how quality tooling directly impacts production success. You'll work hands-on with production and prototype tooling, supporting our automotive customers' manufacturing goals through expert technical work and a commitment to continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
- Build and assemble thermoforming tooling components to specification
- Perform finishing and surface treatment work to achieve tight tolerances
- Maintain and service tooling systems to prevent downtime
- Diagnose and repair tooling defects and performance issues
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams on process improvements
- Inspect completed tooling to verify quality standards are met
- Document tooling work and maintain accurate records
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on experience with thermoforming tooling, tool maintenance, or automotive manufacturing equipment
- Proficiency with hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and basic metalworking techniques
- Ability to read technical drawings and understand blueprints and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Independent problem-solving skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and ready to thrive in a hands-on manufacturing environment
