Join Riviera Golf & Tennis as Shop Manager—a full-time leadership role based in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles County. You'll oversee the critical maintenance and operational readiness of all equipment that keeps our championship course and grounds in pristine condition.
About the Role
As Shop Manager, you'll report directly to the Superintendent and manage all aspects of equipment maintenance, repair, and preventive service. This is an exempt position responsible for ensuring every piece of golf course and grounds maintenance equipment operates reliably and safely. You'll be the backbone keeping our maintenance operation running smoothly, from daily equipment repairs to long-term preventive care strategies.
What You'll Do
- Maintain, repair, and service all golf course maintenance equipment and grounds machinery to ensure peak operational performance
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan
- Manage equipment inventory, parts, and tools with accuracy and efficiency
- Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic equipment problems and execute repairs independently or oversee complex work
- Coordinate equipment scheduling and availability to support course operations and grounds crew needs
- Train and guide maintenance staff on proper equipment operation, safety protocols, and care procedures
- Monitor equipment performance, document service history, and recommend upgrades or replacements when needed
- Maintain shop safety standards and compliance with applicable regulations
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in equipment maintenance, repair, and shop management—ideally in grounds, turf, or golf course environments
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills with hydraulic, diesel, and gasoline-powered equipment
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple repair projects simultaneously
- Leadership skills and experience training or mentoring maintenance personnel
- Excellent record-keeping and documentation habits
- Commitment to safety and maintaining a clean, organized shop environment
- Valid driver's license required
