Ymca Of Coastal Carolina is hiring a full-time Swim Instructor in Conway, Horry County, to teach swimming lessons and water safety to members of all ages and abilities. About the Role
As a Swim Instructor at our Conway location, you'll lead engaging, safe, and inclusive swim classes while creating a welcoming environment for everyone. You'll combine excellent communication with a genuine passion for aquatic education, working with children, teens, and adults to help them progress through swimming levels and achieve their water safety goals.
What You'll Do
- Teach swim classes across multiple proficiency levels, from beginner water orientation to advanced techniques
- Assess individual swimmer abilities and progress, adjusting instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Demonstrate proper swimming strokes, diving, and water safety skills with clear, encouraging instruction
- Maintain a positive, supportive classroom atmosphere that builds confidence and encourages participation
- Enforce pool safety protocols and ensure all participants follow guidelines
- Track student progress and communicate updates with parents and guardians
- Assist with program setup, maintenance of facilities, and equipment management as needed
What We're Looking For
- Current Lifeguard Certification (or ability to obtain) and Swimming Instructor Certification (such as Lifeguard Training, Water Safety Instructor, or equivalent)
- CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
- Demonstrated ability to teach and communicate clearly with diverse age groups
- Strong swimming skills and water comfort across all environments
- Patient, enthusiastic approach to helping others overcome water fears
- Reliability, professionalism, and commitment to program quality
- Previous experience teaching swim lessons or instructional background preferred
