Adoption Specialist

About the Role

As an Adoption Specialist, you serve as a vital advocate for children in the adoption process. Our Community Our Kids entrusts you with the legal responsibility for each child's welfare during the period they are in our conservatorship. Your work directly impacts children's futures by connecting them with qualified adoptive families and ensuring continuity of care throughout the permanency journey.

What You'll Do

• Oversee and document the ongoing care and safety of children in the organization's conservatorship
• Build and maintain relationships with prospective adoptive families interested in providing permanent homes
• Coordinate with child placing agencies and other partner organizations to facilitate the adoption process
• Liaise with legal representatives, courts, and other stakeholders involved in each child's case
• Conduct family assessments and home studies to match children with appropriate families
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive case documentation and records for compliance and continuity
• Support families throughout the adoption finalization process and placement stabilization

What We're Looking For

• Background in social work, child welfare, or a related professional field
• Knowledge of adoption law, child welfare regulations, and permanency best practices
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with families, agencies, and courts
• Ability to manage multiple cases while maintaining detailed, accurate documentation
• Genuine commitment to child safety and successful permanent family placement
• Willingness to obtain required background checks, clearances, or professional certifications
