About the Role
As Histotechnology Laboratory Supervisor, you'll direct daily operations of our histology laboratory and serve as the primary leader of our technical team. This position requires an active New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license or Certified Histological Technician credential, paired with demonstrated supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory environment. You'll report to laboratory management and play a vital role in maintaining our lab's reputation for precision and quality.
What You'll Do
- Supervise histotechnicians and laboratory staff, ensuring consistent adherence to protocols and best practices
- Oversee specimen preparation, processing, and staining procedures to maintain accuracy and quality standards
- Manage laboratory equipment, coordinate maintenance schedules, and troubleshoot technical issues
- Monitor compliance with New York State laboratory regulations and CLIA requirements
- Conduct quality assurance reviews and implement corrective actions as needed
- Maintain detailed documentation and records of all laboratory activities
- Collaborate with pathologists and clinical teams on specimen consultations
- Train new staff and develop or update standard operating procedures for the histology lab
What We're Looking For
- Active New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Certified Histological Technician license (required)
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in histotechnology and specimen processing
- Proven supervisory or leadership experience in a clinical laboratory setting
- Strong proficiency in histological staining techniques and tissue processing methods
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high-quality standards
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems and quality management practices
