About the Role
As our Counsel, you'll serve as a trusted legal resource for the bank, handling a diverse range of in-house legal matters. You'll work closely with our operations, compliance, and business teams to navigate the complex regulatory environment of community banking while managing the day-to-day legal needs that keep our institution running smoothly.
What You'll Do
- Provide legal counsel on regulatory matters, bank examinations, and compliance issues
- Review and negotiate third-party vendor contracts to protect bank interests
- Draft, revise, and maintain bank agreements, policies, procedures, forms, and correspondence
- Handle subpoena requests and respond to legal inquiries
- Advise on general in-house legal questions across departments
- Support leadership in understanding legal implications of business initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Law degree (J.D.) and active license to practice law in Iowa
- Prior experience in banking law, regulatory compliance, or financial institution counsel
- Strong knowledge of banking regulations and regulatory examination processes
- Excellent contract review and drafting skills
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders
- Organized, detail-oriented approach to managing multiple matters simultaneously
- Professional judgment and discretion when handling sensitive legal matters
