Elementary Teacher

Weldon City Schools is seeking a dedicated Elementary Teacher to join our team in Weldon, Halifax County. This is a full-time opportunity to shape young learners' academic and social development through dynamic, thoughtful instruction.

About the Role

As an Elementary Teacher at Weldon City Schools, you'll design and deliver engaging classroom instruction that meets students where they are. You'll create a structured learning environment where children develop critical thinking skills, build confidence, and grow both academically and socially. Reporting to your school's Principal, you'll work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and support staff to ensure every student has the resources and encouragement to succeed.

What You'll Do

• Plan and organize daily lessons aligned with grade-level standards and curriculum objectives
• Teach core subjects including literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies
• Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, adjusting instruction based on data
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that supports diverse learners
• Manage classroom materials, supplies, and resources effectively
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and needs
• Participate in school events, staff meetings, and professional development activities
• Collaborate with grade-level teams and specialists to support student growth

What We're Looking For

• Current North Carolina teaching license or eligibility for licensure in Elementary Education
• Strong foundation in elementary curriculum and instructional best practices
• Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying needs and learning styles
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills
• Commitment to student-centered, inclusive education
• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (or equivalent)

Compensation

This position is compensated according to the North Carolina State Salary Scale for teachers.
