About the Role
As a Social Worker with Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, you'll deliver direct services to economically disadvantaged children, adults, and seniors throughout the Upper East Side community. This is hands-on, relationship-centered work that combines counseling, case management, and advocacy to help clients navigate systems and access the support they need to build more stable, fulfilling lives.
What You'll Do
- Conduct thorough assessments of clients' social, psychological, and physical circumstances to understand the full scope of their needs
- Develop individualized service plans that connect clients with appropriate resources, programs, and community services
- Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services when clients are facing urgent challenges
- Help clients access benefits, entitlements, and government assistance programs they're eligible for
- Offer supportive counseling and guidance to help clients work toward their goals
- Advocate on behalf of clients within social service systems and institutions
- Maintain detailed case notes and documentation to track client progress and outcomes
- Collaborate with colleagues, community partners, and other service providers
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field; Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) preferred
- NYS Social Work license or eligibility for licensure
- Experience providing direct social services to vulnerable populations
- Strong communication and listening skills; ability to build trust with diverse clients
- Problem-solving mindset and resourcefulness in connecting people with community support
- Comfort navigating bureaucratic processes and benefit systems
- Emotional resilience and ability to manage secondary trauma
- Commitment to social justice and economic equity
