Join Hudsonville Public Schools as a Middle School Assistant Track Coach for the 2026-2027 season. This part-time position is based in Hudsonville, Ottawa County, and offers the opportunity to mentor young athletes while supporting a competitive track and field program at the middle school level.
About the Role
As Assistant Track Coach, you'll partner with the head coach and athletic director to build a supportive, competitive training environment for middle school track athletes. This role combines hands-on coaching with program coordination to foster athlete development, skill growth, and team excellence throughout the season.
What You'll Do
- Assist with planning and executing track and field training sessions, drills, and conditioning programs
- Coordinate with the Athletic Director on meet scheduling, competition logistics, and team travel
- Provide direct coaching and technical instruction across multiple track events
- Oversee athlete safety, proper conditioning protocols, and program compliance standards
- Foster team culture, positive sportsmanship, and student-athlete development
- Manage equipment and maintain practice facilities and competition areas
- Communicate regularly with parents, students, and coaching staff on athlete progress and program updates
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated coaching experience in track and field or related athletic programs
- Strong technical knowledge of track events, training methodologies, and athlete development
- Proven ability to connect with middle school students in a motivational, supportive manner
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to athlete safety, wellness, and evidence-based coaching practices
- Flexibility with scheduling, including after-school sessions and competition days
- Current First Aid and CPR certification preferred
