Manager, Cloud Engineering

We are seeking a Manager, Cloud Engineering to lead and develop a team of cloud engineers while serving as a key technical authority for the architecture, reliability, and evolution of our cloud platform. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with team development, driving infrastructure modernization, automation, and operational excellence across our global SaaS environment while building and mentoring a high-performing engineering team.

We are primarily an Azure-based environment with some cloud systems operating in AWS. A key focus for this role is to guide the strategic evolution and consolidation of our cloud infrastructure, ensure platform stability while simplifying architecture, and cultivate a team of cloud engineers capable of owning these objectives independently.

This is a hands-on leadership role which allows someone to explore their innate curiosity to solve complex challenges, improve engineering systems, and develop talented engineers. They will build and manage a small team of cloud and database engineers while shaping the long-term evolution of our SaaS platform and fostering a culture of technical excellence.

What You’ll Do

Technical Leadership & Architecture

• Define and evolve the architecture of the cloud platform on Microsoft Azure
• Own the technical roadmap for the cloud platform and guide modernization initiatives
• Serve as the senior technical escalation point for complex infrastructure and production issues
• Remain hands-on with infrastructure design, Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep preferred, ARM, or Terraform), and architectural decision-making
• Define reusable platform patterns and infrastructure modules that enable product teams to deploy safely and efficiently
• Establish reliability practices including observability, monitoring, alerting, SLOs, and incident response
• Lead cloud cost optimization initiatives and provide FinOps leadership across the organization

Team Leadership & Development

• Build, hire, and onboard a high-performing team of cloud engineers aligned with current and future business needs
• Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular feedback, and manage performance reviews for direct reports
• Create individualized development plans that align with both team objectives and career aspirations
• Mentor and coach engineers on technical skills, leadership capabilities, and career growth
• Provide career pathing guidance and identify internal promotion and advancement opportunities
• Empower team members to own projects, make technical decisions, and grow their ownership and accountability
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive team culture that values technical excellence, continuous learning, and psychological safety
• Delegate appropriately to develop team capability while maintaining hands-on involvement in critical initiatives

Operations & Strategic Execution

• Partner with engineering, product, and security teams to ensure infrastructure meets scalability, security, and compliance requirements
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and operational consistency across environments
• Design highly available systems capable of supporting global SaaS workloads
• Implement tooling and reporting that provide transparency into infrastructure usage and cost drivers
• Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate team productivity, infrastructure automation, and operational insights
• Manage team capacity planning, resource allocation, and workload prioritization
• Drive cross-functional collaboration between cloud engineering, product, security, and other engineering teams

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, or DevOps roles with increasing technical responsibility
• 2+ years of experience in a leadership, management, or senior technical role with direct responsibility for mentoring or developing engineers
• Experience operating production infrastructure for SaaS platforms
• Strong expertise with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and architecture
• Experience working with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Bicep, ARM templates, or Terraform
• Strong scripting or programming skills in PowerShell, Python, C#, or similar languages
• Experience designing and operating highly available distributed systems
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop technical teams
• Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across organizational levels
• Experience with hiring, onboarding, and performance management of technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Azure certifications such as AZ-104 (Azure Administrator) or AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect)
• Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and containerized workloads
• Experience working across multiple public cloud providers (Azure and AWS)
• Experience planning or executing cloud migration or platform modernization initiatives
• Familiarity with SRE practices and modern observability platforms
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted engineering tools and emerging AI-driven operational platforms
• Prior experience managing remote or distributed engineering teams
• Exposure to engineering management best practices, coaching, and organizational development

Salary: ₹3,500,000 – 4,500,000 base salary plus 15% bonus
