Based in Dallas, the IP Litigation Paralegal will be responsible for supporting attorneys and other paralegal staff in all phases of litigation, including case management, court filings, document review and production, docket management, document organization, drafting and responding to discovery, deposition and trial preparation, cite-checking, and mentoring junior paralegals. This position will focus on Intellectual Property litigation cases. Working under attorney supervision, you will have the opportunity to work on high stakes cases with a dynamic legal team. Many cases are heard out of state or before the International Trade Commission, and travel will be involved with this role.

This role reports to the Associate Director of Paralegal Services and Manager, Paralegal Services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting Attorneys in all phases of IP litigation from case initiation through trial.
  • Assisting with calendaring case deadlines.
  • Assisting with and draft court filings and preparations in Federal and State courts.
  • Assisting with discovery, document collection, organization, review, and productions.
  • Assisting with invalidity and infringement contentions and associated productions.
  • Assisting with claim construction briefing and Markman hearing preparation.
  • Proofreading, cite checking and blue book court briefs and discovery documents.
  • Assisting with deposition, meeting, or interview preparations.
  • Assisting with all aspects, including travel, of trial and arbitration preparations.
  • Preparing various charts and indices.
  • Coordinating with external vendors.
  • Performing various day-to-day case management tasks.
  • Mentoring and providing guidance to junior paralegals and legal assistants as needed.
  • Preparing and timely submitting timekeeping reports.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to support complex litigation cases from beginning to end.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Flexible and able to multi-task, balancing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Proactive and able to efficiently handle multiple projects and client matters simultaneously.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior analytical and reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with members across multiple offices.
  • Available to travel as needed.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and substantive paralegal experience. Candidate must meet any applicable state requirements governing the performance of paralegal duties, including any required certifications or qualifications.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Understanding of common litigation practices, procedures, regulations, and workflow.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe.
  • Proficiency in Lexis Nexis and Westlaw.
  • Proficient in iManage.
  • Experience with eDiscovery Databases such as Relativity, Opus 2, and CaseMap.
  • Experience with USPTO Patent Center and ability to obtain patents, prosecution histories, and prior art.
  • Proficient with patent terminology and citations.
  • Experience with litigation before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), International Trade Commission (ITC), and Federal Circuit.
  • Experience with Hatch-Waxman IP litigation and life sciences IP litigation preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

The annual compensation range for this position is $105,000 to $132,000. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
