The ideal candidate is not just a “Cisco expert” but someone who understands that in a data center, the network is the heartbeat of the facility. You must be comfortable troubleshooting complex issues under pressure in high-risk environments where downtime is not an option.
This position will report to EdgeConnex’ Sr. Director, Network Engineering and Systems and is based at our Dublin datacenter. This role follows a four-day-per-week onsite schedule. This position could also require as much as 10-20% within the EMEA region to support critical issues and new builds.

- BMS & Critical Systems Networking: Provide dedicated support and administration for the Building Management System (BMS) secure network and its associated equipment. Ensure seamless communication between critical facility hardware and monitoring platforms.
- Data Center Uptime: Maintain a “Zero Downtime” mindset. Monitor and optimize network performance to meet strict SLA requirements and high-availability standards.
- On-Site Operations Support: Act as the local technical lead for the operations team, resolving all network-related issues, including WiFi, local LAN, WLAN segments, and troubleshooting.
- Troubleshooting Under Pressure: Rapidly diagnose and resolve network outages or performance degradation in a high-risk environment. You must be able to maintain composure and follow strict Change Management protocols while under pressure.
- Virtualization Integration: Collaborate with the broader IT team to manage network connectivity for our Virtualization infrastructure (VMware/vSAN), ensuring high-speed, redundant paths for server traffic.
- Documentation: Maintain precise network diagrams, IP schemes, and cable maps for both the enterprise and BMS networks.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Advanced Networking: Expert-level command of Cisco NX-OS/IOS. Experience with VLAN segmentation, routing protocols, and firewall management.
- DC Virtualization: Deep experience with VMware (ESXi, vCenter). Knowledge of vSAN or similar software-defined storage is a plus.
- Storage Protocols: Proficiency in managing storage via iSCSI, Fibre Channel, or NFS.
- Resilience: Proven ability to work in a 24/7/365 mission-critical environment. You must be comfortable with on-call rotations and emergency response.
Experience/Education
- Cisco Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with Cisco IOS, NX-OS, Catalyst, and Nexus platforms.
- BMS Affinity: Strong understanding of how industrial control systems (BMS/EPMS) utilize IP networks.
- Critical Environment Experience: Proven ability to work within a Tier III or IV data center environment, understanding the risks associated with “live” infrastructure.
- Infrastructure Knowledge: Familiarity with Data Center/Virtualization stacks (VMware, SAN/NAS connectivity).
- Resilience: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in high-demand and time-sensitive situations.
- Proficiency in administering VMware, Windows and/or Linux server environments is a plus
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of professional experience as a Network Engineer, preferably within a Data Center, ISP, or critical industrial environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Certification: CCNA/CCNP (Routing & Switching / Data Center) is highly preferred.
- Availability: Ability to participate in an on-call rotation to support 24/7/365 data center operations.
