UnityPoint Health is hiring a Rad Tech - Interventional Radiography at our Des Moines location in Polk County. This is a full-time position for an experienced interventional radiography technologist ready to support a dynamic clinical team performing minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
About the Role
As an Interventional Radiography Technician at UnityPoint Health, you'll work in a fast-paced interventional radiology department assisting physicians during complex imaging-guided procedures. You'll be responsible for patient preparation, equipment operation, and direct clinical support in the procedure suite. Your technical expertise and attention to detail will directly impact patient outcomes and procedural efficiency.
What You'll Do
- Prepare patients for interventional procedures, including positioning, monitoring, and communication to ensure comfort and safety
- Operate and maintain interventional radiography equipment and imaging systems
- Assist physicians during vascular access, catheter placement, and other minimally invasive therapeutic procedures
- Monitor patient vital signs and respond appropriately to clinical changes during procedures
- Maintain strict adherence to radiation safety protocols and sterile technique standards
- Document procedure details and patient information accurately in medical records
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and imaging specialists to ensure smooth procedure execution
What We're Looking For
- Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Radiography, or state licensure as a radiologic technologist
- Associates degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent professional credentials
- Hands-on experience in a hospital radiology or interventional setting
- Strong knowledge of medical imaging technology and radiation safety principles
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a clinical environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with patient positioning
- Commitment to patient safety and quality clinical standards
