USIC is hiring a Utility Locator in Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas for a full-time position. This is hands-on field work where you'll play a critical role in preventing utility strikes and keeping construction sites safe by accurately locating and marking underground utilities.
About the Role
As a Utility Locator with USIC, you'll work directly outdoors using specialized equipment and technical expertise to identify and mark subsurface infrastructure. This position offers meaningful work in a dynamic environment, contributing to public safety and the success of construction projects throughout the region.
What You'll Do
- Use advanced locating technology to identify underground utilities including gas, electric, water, telecommunications, and sewer lines
- Mark utility locations on job sites using industry-standard methods and established safety protocols
- Document utility marking activities and maintain detailed site records for each assignment
- Respond to locate requests and coordinate directly with contractors and property owners
- Perform field work across varying terrain and weather conditions throughout Johnson County
- Consistently follow OSHA regulations, ANSI standards, and USIC safety procedures

- Valid driver's license and dependable transportation
- Physical capability to work outdoors and perform manual labor in all weather conditions

Compensation
This full-time Utility Locator position offers $19.00 per hour.
